Hiii friends, happy Sunday! I’ve been loving all of your emails and suggestions (make use of the Substack chat section)! A big theme in what you want to see more of is cycle syncing, so for the next eight weeks, I’ll be sharing brand-new recipes for each phase, a deep dive into each phase and sex hormones, clean living, what to avoid for healthy hormones, my top tips, how to make this all more attainable, and more!!
WHAT IS CYCLE SYNCING?
Cycle syncing (a term coined by Alissa Vitti) is the process of optimizing your workouts, lifestyle, mindset, and meals for each phase of your menstrual cycle.
WHY DOES IT MATTER?
Our society is built on a man's circadian rhythm of 24 hours, however, women work with an infradian rhythm which is a 28-day cycle that regulates the menstrual cycle. This is why what works for men does not necessarily mean it will work for us! Our menstrual cycle is our 5th vital sign and gives us so much information on what is going on with our hormones. We should be eating, exercising, and working differently in each week of our cycle to prevent PMS, weight gain, digestion issues, burnout, and properly fuel the body.
HOW WILL YOU FEEL?
When hormones are balanced and you give your body what it needs in each moment, you'll reach your goals quicker and become more in tune with how you're feeling each day. The best part is, you don't need to be obsessive with it to claim the benefits - just follow this guide to reclaim control of your body & optimize your day-to-day.
INNER VS. OUTER WISDOM:
Outer wisdom is what we are exposed to outside of ourselves. This includes science, opinions, advice from experts, doctors, friends, & family... so yes that includes this newsletter.
Inner wisdom is valuable information only you can access and benefit from. This includes your thoughts, feelings, intuition, and beliefs.
Outer wisdom is one piece of the puzzle, at the end of the day, only you know YOU best. If there is ever a day or week where your energy or feelings don't align with the suggested workout or meal, lean into it. Many outside factors influence our feelings and health. No two days will be the same. Try your best to find a balance between both. Take the wisdom from the outer voice and integrate it in a way that feels good for you.
Some ways I supported my body this week: an evening afternoon sauna sesh, prioritizing matcha over coffee, morning sunlight exposure!
